Before our children were born, they had a special conversation with God. They asked Him to give them parents that would care for them, help them with their special needs and most of all love them more than anything else. With that we were chosen as parents to these beautiful children. And for that we are honored and forever grateful.
Thank you Emma & Harrison for choosing us.

Harrison had his MRI

Standard procedure before cochlear implant surgery. And standard hospital procedure as well...we were told to be at the hospital at 10:00 am and his scan was at 11:00 am. So of course we got there at 10:00 as we were supposed to and in typical medical appointment fashion, we didn't go in until 11:15. His scan finally happened at 12:30. I was in the room when they put him under. Emma and Daddy waited for me outside the scan room. I always hate that part because your baby goes from moving around to limp in a few seconds. It freaks me out. It's like he's dead!

Emma can't go near an MRI machine because the magnetic force is so strong, she would feel intense pulling pressure on the magnets in her head! That's why she can't have an MRI because the force would pull them out of her head!

It lasted about 45 minutes and they brought us back in as he was waking up. He was so groggy and he kept trying to put his thumb in his mouth but he constantly missed and kept poking himself in the eye! Finally he gave up! In the meantime Emma drew him a picture while we waited. She's a good big sister!

  1. Oh, MRI's are so hard (for the anesthesia part of it, anyway). We had one for Nolan, though not for a CI. They were just trying to find the cause of his hearing loss, but it is so hard to watch them get put to sleep!

  2. That must be scary when they go limp! I would freak out too. Glad it's over.
