Before our children were born, they had a special conversation with God. They asked Him to give them parents that would care for them, help them with their special needs and most of all love them more than anything else. With that we were chosen as parents to these beautiful children. And for that we are honored and forever grateful.
Thank you Emma & Harrison for choosing us.

Are you kidding me...again with the insurance!

Harrison has his first CI surgery scheduled for April 16th. Well we just heard back from his doctor that our insurance company is denying coverage of the surgery because he will only have had his hearing aids for 2 1/2 months at the time of the surgery and not the "required" 3 months! GIVE ME A BREAK! First of all, the hearing aids do him NO GOOD because he hears nothing out of either ear. Hearing aids are a requirement as a trial period prior to surgery, I get that if there is some hearing but he genetically has none and never will until he gets his cochlear implants. So here we go again! Let the battle begin! This reminds me of the time Emma's second surgery was denied because the insurance company said "one was good enough"! Well if that is the philosophy, then I can think of a few body parts of theirs where "one is good enough"! How about one arm, or leg, or eye, or one ear!!!! One of those is good enough for the insurance broker or their child, right?

  1. UGH! I want to slap in their face! Do you know Amy Kwilinski? Her son, Oliver, was implanted at the age of 6 months. I know that he didn't wear hearing aids prior to his implantation as there was no point, as you said. You might want to contact Amy and find out how she got the insurance approval to implant her son at the age of 6 months. Also, like you, Amy spent a year fighting with the insurance to get a second implant for her older son, Elliot, who was also born deaf. If you want her contact info, please let me know, and I'll e-mail it to you.
